Music Monday: What Love Really Means
This song touches such a chord in me right now. I see more and more disdain and distrust of Christianity, religion, and faith in general, and I see more and more examples of why that attitude can be justified. With today's atmosphere of name-calling, dismissal of others because they don't agree with something we stand for, the political climate of hatred, some people covering their hateful and judgmental actions with the banner of faith, and all of those getting plenty of media attention, it's hard to find examples of a true life of faith.
It's all a little disheartening.
But then I remember the mustard seed. "When it is sown in the ground, [it] is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade." (Mark 4:31-32)
We all have our moments where we don't live the way we should. May this song help us to remember what we are here for. Right now, it might feel like we're planting mustard seeds, but those seeds will grow bit by bit. The more seeds we plant, the more shade we provide, and maybe this atmosphere will start to change.
