Take a little time...

In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart, Mahatma Ghandi, Karen May, Amayzing Graces

Jesus spent forty days in the desert preparing for His ministry. Alone. No distractions, away from everything and everyone. I don't get the impression, though, that it was a planning session. He didn't spend the forty days creating a business plan, or a dream board, or even a mission statement.

Instead He stripped away everything and was strengthened by it. Granted, Jesus had a pretty significant mission to accomplish, and needed some pretty significant preparation. But in our smaller ways, we have our own ministries and our own missions to accomplish.

How can we possibly know what they are if we don't spend any time preparing for them? Most of us can't take forty days to wander in the wilderness and fast, but can we take a few minutes? How about just five?

It's hard. Trust me, I know. But, when we take five minutes away from everything and give God space to work, and time to speak, miracles can happen.

We don't have to come up with a plan or even a mission. We don't have to receive a glorious vision. We just need to get ready. We need to step out for a minute so that we can gather strength and clarity. We need to settle things down so that the noise doesn't drown out the voice of God.

God's got something for each one of us. How do you find your five minutes?

Do you have something else that helps you get ready for what God has for you? Comment and let us know!
