Super Friends

What if you went to a party and your favorite superhero was there? Ironman, Thor, Captain Marvel, Spiderman – whoever you like. What if they were actually real? What would you do?

Would you watch from a distance, afraid or embarrassed to approach? Would you walk by, too cool for fandom, or would you be brave enough to step up and say hello?

Imagine you started a conversation and it blossomed into a true friendship. Your life would be different, wouldn’t it? You’d walk a little taller, knowing that you are friends with a superhero. You’d be a little more confident knowing that your superhero has your back no matter what. It’s what they do.

Who is your hero? Karen May, Amayzing Graces

Now imagine that superhero actually is real. Suppose you could meet someone who is more powerful than anything in the world. Suppose you could be loved by someone who could overcome even death.

Suppose that person was Jesus.

Would you watch from a distance, afraid or embarrassed to approach? Would you walk by, too cool for fandom, or would you be brave enough to step up and say hello?

Imagine you started a conversation and it blossomed into a true friendship. Your life would be different, wouldn’t it? You’d walk a little taller, knowing that you are friends with Jesus. You’d be a little more confident knowing that Jesus has your back no matter what. It’s what He does.

If you haven’t talked to Jesus in a while, stop by and say hello. He’d love to see you and change your life for the better.

(thank you to my friend Tim Overend for this idea – he presented it our teens in Confirmation and set them up for one of the most powerful times of Adoration I have seen in a long time.)
