Protecting Our Children

your life's not falling apart, it's falling into place, Casting Crowns, Karen May, Amayzing Graces

The last two weeks, I have shared stories of young women who, for legitimate reasons, wish to remain anonymous. So when the family in this video decided to remove the mask of anonymity and tell the story of their son's childhood sexual abuse, I was so deeply moved and incredibly proud of them.

I know this family well. As they tell their story, I want you to know that this is a family who eats dinner together, attends and is active in their church community, with attentive parents who love their children and are involved in their lives. As you hear what happened, you may think, “This can’t happen to me,” or “I would know,” and I pray that you are right.

I also pray that their story helps you to see or get help if something like this is happening to you or someone you know. I can tell you that everything in you wants to deny that something like this could be true, even as it is happening right in front of you.

This family wasn’t able to stop this from happening in the first place, but they have stopped it now and are making themselves available to help others.

This is a time of healing, transformation, and grace springing forth from a place of brokenness and sin. Haven't we seen that somewhere before?

I couldn’t be more honored to share their story with you.

If the video doesn't work, click here to watch "Protecting our Children: A Family's Response" I know it will be hard to watch, but if it protects even one child, it's worth it.
